The Youth Orchestra, a new platform that allows young musicians to showcase their musical talents in the capital, offers educational programmes and concerts throughout the year.
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism is working with the International Music Institute, one of the oldest institutes of the country. It was established in 1994 to organise a program open to all students of music in the United Arab Emirates. The audition process will determine which students are selected.
Students selected for the Youth Orchestra will be invited to participate in weekly workshops and rehearsals hosted by highly qualified instructors. Students will also have the chance to perform in concerts at prestigious venues.
In May 2022, the first round of auditions was opened. To select additional students for the orchestra and choir, auditions will continue in September and November. The Youth Orchestra will perform four performances in 2022. The opening concert will take place at 6 p.m. at the Cultural Foundation Auditorium. The Youth Orchestra’s junior and senior musicians will perform a mixture of orchestral and solo music from the classical/baroque period.
