Dubai has many stores that sell everything from luxury brands to cultural items.

Traditional Souks

Walking through Dubai’s old souks is a must-do for every visitor. There is no better place to shop than the lively souk, which is brimming with local and historic icons.

  • Dubai Gold Souk

Dubai Gold Souk

The souk is located in Deira, Dubai’s commercial business sector. Shop displays of the Gold Souk offer jewellery assembled from gold, silver, and colourful gemstones, attracting the attention of visitors. This souk is still a great place to make a fashion move or invest in gold and silver jewellery due to its more affordable prices than other vendors. An overwhelming majority of the more than 388 vendors in the souk sell jewellery. The stores range in age from forty years old to brand new. The primary products that the market deals in are gold, platinum, diamonds, and occasionally silver. The 64-kilogram biggest ring in the world was on display at the Dubai Gold Souk.

  • Dubai Spice Souk

Near the Dubai Gold Souk in Deira, eastern Dubai, you’ll find the Spice Souk. It is located on Baniyas Street in the Al Ras neighbourhood, next to the Old Souk Abra station on Dubai Creek. A popular destination for tourists, the souk is comprised of narrow lanes adorned with both open and covered shops. The Spice Souk is a marketplace that sells aromatic herbs, spices, and perfumes from all over the world, including frankincense, shisha, and many more. Aside from spices, the Spice Souk also sells carpets, textiles, tea, and other antiquities. Haggling is the main method of trade. Both the amount of business and the number of stores selling spices have stagnated in the Spice Souk in recent years due to the growth of larger stores and supermarkets.

  • Dubai Textile Souk

Dubai Textile Souk, also known as the Old Textile Souk, is a traditional textile souk near Dubai Creek in ancient Bur Dubai. The Spice Souk and Gold Souk are in Deira, across the Dubai Creek from the textile souk. Specialized Abra boats can take you there. From Saturday through Thursday, it’s open from 10 am to 10 pm. Some merchants have a lunch break from 1 to 4 pm. On Friday, it’s only open from 4 pm to 10 pm. Due to the significant number of sellers of Indian origin, most of them are willing to negotiate rates and often have deals, especially in the weeks leading up to major events like Diwali and Eid. Buyers should shop around because multiple sellers may offer discounts or higher-quality stock.
