These legends about the world’s tallest buildings are not fiction, but fact.

Burj Khalifa’s base was inspired by a single flower

Burj Khalifa Base

The Burj Khalifa is a symbol of human creativity and innovation. The triple-lobed footprint of the building – three circular structures that extend from the central core – was inspired by the hymenocallis, which is a desert flower in the region commonly known as the spider Lily. This design maximizes the Burj Khalifa’s view of Arabian Gulf so that as many people as possible can enjoy spectacular views of the city. It looks very similar to the onion domes found in Islamic architecture, which is a modern tribute to the local heritage.

At the top of Burj Khalifa, it’s six degrees colder

It’s true – Burj Khalifa stands so high that there is a sharp difference in temperature between its top and ground. Its impressive height has allowed it to break many records, which may surprise you. The Burj Khalifa’s Level 124 observation deck is the highest in the world. You can also visit At The Top for unparalleled views of Dubai. You can travel the longest distance by lift. If you are up for it, there is a stairwell with 2,909 steps leading to the 160th. Only authorized personnel are permitted to go beyond Floor 125.

It has nearly 26,000 hand-cut panels of glass

Each panel of glass that makes up the facade of Burj Khalifa consists of approximately 26,000 panels. Each one is hand-cut and made to withstand extreme weather conditions. They form a reflective curtain wall that runs the length of the tower. It is the same size as 17 football pitches. It takes between three and four months to clean the entire building’s glittering façade from the outside.
