The tournament is part of the DP World Tour Play-Offs, making it particularly important for players competing in the Race to Dubai.

The 2026 field is expected to include the leading available players from the Race to Dubai rankings, with the top 50 progressing to the final DP World Tour Championship in Dubai the following week.

World-Class Golf at Yas Links

The main attraction is, of course, the professional golf.

The 2026 tournament will feature a minimum field of 70 players, competing over 72 holes of stroke play. Players will compete across four rounds, with the leading available golfers from the Race to Dubai rankings forming the core of the field.

For golf fans, watching a DP World Tour event in person provides an opportunity to follow professional golfers around the course and experience the tournament atmosphere close to the action.

Rory McIlroy Confirmed for Abu Dhabi

One of the major confirmed names for the 2026 championship is Rory McIlroy.

The DP World Tour announced that McIlroy will return to the Abu Dhabi Championship in 2026. The announcement noted his previous record at the tournament, including four runner-up finishes, and his aim to win the title.

The organiser has also confirmed that McIlroy's participation adds further significance to the tournament because of his position in the Race to Dubai and his pursuit of another season-long title.

Rather than publishing an incomplete player list on the Captain Dunes page, it is better to direct visitors to the official DP World Tour tournament information for the latest confirmed field.

Championship Village and Entertainment

The Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship combines golf with an entertainment-focused Championship Village.

The 2026 spectator information highlights:

• Food and beverage areas

This makes the tournament suitable for visitors who want to experience a sporting event without spending the entire day focused only on the golf.

Family Day and Ladies Day

The tournament programme includes themed spectator experiences designed to make the event more accessible to a wider audience.

The official 2026 ticket information specifically highlights Ladies Day and Family Day as part of the general admission experience.

Family-focused entertainment is designed to complement the golf, giving children and accompanying family members activities to enjoy around the tournament environment.

Specific activity schedules can change, so visitors should check the official tournament programme before attending.

Golf Activities for Visitors

The tournament experience also includes opportunities for visitors to engage with golf rather than simply watch the professionals.

The event's spectator information highlights activities such as:

• Get Into Golf sessions
• Interactive golf challenges
• Trick-shot demonstrations
• Golf-related entertainment

These activities can make the event more engaging for people who are new to golf as well as experienced golf fans.
